Teenage Dream is the second studio album by American recording artist Katy Perry. It was released on August 24, 2010, through Capitol Records. The album's inspiration came from dance, pop, rock by 1980s artists, ABBA, Ace of Base and The Cardigans. Perry worked with several writers and producers on the album, including Greg Wells, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Ryan Tedder, Greg Kurstin, Benny Blanco, Ester Dean, The-Dream, and Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, among others. The album is prominent pop music that utilizes dance, electropop, and rock influences, while also incorporating a broader range of genres not seen on her previous albums such as hip hop, electronic, teen pop, electro rock, and eurodisco. The album's lyrical content is centered around teenage anthems of love, image, empowerment, and partying.

Critics gave Teenage Dream mixed reviews, commending it for dance anthems, while denouncing the overall composition as robotic, over-produced, and crude. In the United States, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, selling 192,000 copies in its first week. It was later certified two times platinum by the RIAA, selling more than 2 million copies in the United States. The album has sold more than 7.5 million copies worldwide. The album has spawned six worldwide hits songs: "California Gurls" featuring American rapper Snoop Dogg, the title track, "Firework", "E.T.", which included a version featuring Kanye West, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and "The One That Got Away". The first five singles from album all have topped the charts in the United States and attained top-ten positions in more than twenty countries. All five singles also topped the Digital and Airplay charts, making her the first artist ever to have five number-one singles in the Airplay chart.
With the song "Last Friday Night" becoming the singer's fifth number-one single from Teenage Dream, Perry has become only the second artist in the chart's 53 year history to amass five number-one singles from one album after Michael Jackson achieved the feat with his album Bad between the years 1987 and 1988. The album is one of three albums in history to have six or more top-five singles from one album on Billboard Hot 100 chart. It is also the only album ever to have 7 songs top the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Five singles from "Teenage Dream" have topped the Adult Top 40 chart and all six have topped Mainstream Top 40 chart, both more than any other artist in each respective chart's history. The singles also allowed Perry to have an unprecedented 69-week long streak in the Hot 100's top-ten, as well as a 71-week top-ten streak on the Airplay chart. Perry also has the most number-one singles (four) from one album to top the Canadian Hot 100. All the songs have approximately sold a total over 35 million copies worldwide aside from the album. The singles alone have sold approximately 31.5 million copies worldwide. The album also gave Perry a record for having most Multi-Platinum certifications from an album for its singles surpassing Fergie's The Dutchess. The album also has a record for having sold the most number of singles from an album i.e. 26 million singles in the US surpassing Lady Gaga's The Fame.

At the 53rd Grammy Awards, Teenage Dream was nominated for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. "California Gurls" was nominated for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals, and title track and second single "Teenage Dream" was nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. At the 54th Grammy Awards, the album was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Firework." The album won International Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2011.

In January 2012, it was announced that Teenage Dream would be re-released, under the title Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection. The Complete Confection is slated for a March 2012 release. The first single was released from The Complete Confection so far. The lead (seventh overall) single, "Part of Me", was a worldwide success, reaching number one in the United States. In the United States, the song became the twentieth song in the Billboard Hot 100's history to debut at number one and the sixth #1 from the Teenage Dream era.
